Lots of things have happened since my last post, but it's late and I don't want to take too much time to update this. Let's see, I went out with my friend Tony and his boyfriend, Dan on the 2nd. Armando went out as well, but with his own group of friends, although I did run into them at RPlace. I also saw Jason at Manray and introduced him to Tony. It was funny, cause they both thought the other was snubbing them. The 2nd was also my last day in my old job at Microsoft. As of the 5th, I'm now working in the Systems Management Server product group as a Product Manager. I'm back working for Dustin (or rather, someone who works for him), which is cool. Dustin was my first hiring manager at Microsoft. For the past year and a half, I've been working for his twin brother, Derek. I think I'll probably end up bouncing between the two brothers the rest of my career at MS. :) Not a whole lot happened on Saturday. Armando and I met the girls for dinner at his favorite restaurant in Bellevue. I always forget the name of it, though... LOL. It really is an awesome restaurant, though. After dinner, I met Wendy and saw Cold Mountain, which was pretty good. We had planned to get up for breakie on Sunday, but slept in too late, so I had to rush to Boeing Field for my flight lesson. Vince and I took a x-ctry flight down to Pierce County and back and did a few autos on the way back up. I'll be doing the same flight this saturday solo to finish the last of my actual required flights. Sunday night was Armando's b-day party at Broadway Grill. He had 29 people show up which is incredible to me. I'd be lucky to get half that... LOL As mentioned, Monday was my first day in my new job. I didn't do a whole lot other than try to get settled in. I was looking forward more to our first SMC rehearsal of the quarter than the job, though I was excited for both. SMC went well. I haven't heard from Richie since I talked to him about auditioning, so I don't know what happened. He wasn't at rehearsal, so he either chickened out or they didn't take him. However, my friend Mike did make the chorus as a lower 1st tenor. We also got a couple new upper first tenors, which is awesome. :) The music will be fun, though not as fun as Xmas, of course. Tuesday morning was my first 4:30 am workout with Tony. The workout was humbling, as expected (I'm as out of shape as one can get.... LOL). It was snowing when I left and by the time I got home, we had nearly an inch of snow. I then spent the next 2 hours trying to log onto work and finally got connected. I did almost nothing though. I walked to lunch with Wendy and later walked with her to Starbucks. Or rather, we tried to go to the Starbucks @ Greenlake, but they closed just before we got there. Instead we went to SBC, which is nearby. I will NEVER drink SBC again!!! It was awful. Their coffee has a gross cardboardy taste. It may have been partly from the lid, which feels like cardboard, but even after taking off the lid I wasn't too impressed. We then walked back to my place and looked through all my old pictures (dating back to high school). After that, I walked to dinner with Wendy and her roommates. While we were at dinner, the curse of Seattle weather hit and the snow turned to rain (as predicted). Once again, we didn't even get a full 24 hours to enjoy it.... :( Wednesday, my team had an offsite meeting in Seattle, so it was another day of little work for me, unless you count meetings as work. However, it was time well-spent for me. It really helped to set expectations for what I'll be doing the next 3-6 months. Walking away from the meeting, I was a bit worried about what I've gotten myself into. I know next to nothing in my new job, but have a bunch of critical deadlines and deliverables to do in a short amount of time. Kinda frightening, but also exciting. We went to lunch @ the Frontier Room and Felipe was working. There's a story there too, but I'll share another time. I met Katie and Wendy for dinner that night and then spent the rest of the night at home doing reading for work. This morning was day 2 of my 4:30 am workouts. Tony didn't get there till about 5 am, though, so I was on my own for half an hour. True to form, I did no exercise during that window, choosing instead to send text messages and watching TV (with no sound).... LOL. The workout was good again. I'm liking the early workouts so far and I really like Tony, so that makes it even more fun. He's been doing these workouts for 3 years, so I'm confident there won't be my usual backsliding from my workout schedule this time. Work went well today and I left feeling much more comfortable. After work, i was supposed to go to dinner with my friend Mark, but his cousin was rushed to the hospital. Instead, I caught up on my newspaper reading. :) Okay, that's enough.... Bed time!!!!!!! :) Current Mood: accomplishedCurrent Music: Can't hear the TV, so not sure. :) | | Wednesday, December 31st, 2003 | | 9:36 pm |
New Years, laundry, and Sex :)
Hi all. Tis New Years Eve and I wanted to wish everyone a happy one. I've got nothing planned for tonight, which is ok by me. I've never been much of a New Years kinda guy... Work was uneventful today. I had the worst procrastination bug, but I got the most important things done at least. :) With 2.5 hours left to go in 2003, I'm doing laundry, messing around online, and watching Sex and the City. Exciting, huh? LOL. Well, I'm missing the episode, so I'm off... more later... Current Mood: blahCurrent Music: Sex and the City theme song | | 12:37 am |
Snow! Snow! Snow!
Ok, I'm very excited for two reasons: 1) Armando was able to come out and visit me after all, which I was very happy about; and 2) IT'S SNOWING!!!! Of course, this is Seattle and the snow will probably be gone by tomorrow at 10am, but supposedly it will return this weekend! YEAH!!! I'm supposed to be going to bed now, but I'm too excited by the snow. We really need more snow around here, in my opinion. Here I sit at my job, painfully producing work in fits and spurts. Working on Christmas and New Years weeks is good in some ways (few people in the office, no meetings, etc...), but really bad in others (low motivation, few people in the office, no meetings... LOL). It reminds me of writing English papers in college. I'd take an hour to write a painfully dull paragraph and then spend the next hour playing solitaire or watching tv or anything else to pass the time... Oh well. Back to the grind... Ummmm.... I dunno
So I'm guessing the main point of this is to allow me to ramble on whichever topics I so desire. Very well then, I can deal with that. I actually opened this journal account to read my new bf's posts, but I've recently become more interested in documenting my thoughts, etc... So let's catch everyone up. Depending on your belief structure, either God created the earth, heavens, the animals of the earth, etc... etc... OR a bunch of 1 in a million random occurrences happened which resulted in the formation of the aforementioned earth, heavens, animals, etc... Myself, I'd like to believe in a higher power who helped to start the ball rolling, but then let the 1 in a million random occurrences progress on their own, though that may stem from a selfish desire for something more after this life. The idea that there's nothing more after this brief experience on this planet just seems too depressing to me. Anyway, fast-forward a few millennia and you'll come across my birth, followed by 29 years and 8 months. Ok, you're all caught up now. :) So, maybe it's cause I'm tired, but I have absolutely nothing to ramble about just now... LOL What a waste of a post. Oh well. Maybe I'll say something meaningful later... |
